I must give credit to the Board of Directors of the Redding Chamber of Commerce for investing in the professional development of we, the small but mighty staff of the Chamber. Our main source of industry-leading information and connection with the best and brightest is the Western Association of Chamber Executives (W.A.C.E.). Though it has strong ties to the California Chamber of Commerce, this organization is made up of hundreds of chamber professionals from 21 states and even a couple Canadian provinces. It was the W.A.C.E. led “brandbirth” project a few years ago that has reframed the important role a chamber of commerce needs to perform as a convener of leaders and influencers that gets things done, a catalyst for business growth, and a champion of a stronger community.
W.A.C.E. is an association of chamber of commerce executives and staff professionals with approximately 828 members in 21 Western states and Canada. The association is designed to promote and enhance the professional development of chamber of commerce executives and is the largest state or regional chamber of commerce executives association in the United States.
Jake also served as a session presenter on workforce development at the annual W.A.C.E. Annual Conference in Sacramento.
Erin Hull, the VP of Marketing & Communications at the Redding Chamber of Commerce, was among the 19 chamber executives to graduate last month from Academy, a professional development program presented by the Western Association of Chamber Executives (W.A.C.E.). Academy is an interactive 3-day (three-year) training program on chamber management essentials designed for today’s chamber executives and staff professionals.
“We congratulate all of the graduates and their chambers for having the vision to invest in professional development,” said W.A.C.E. President Dave Kilby. During the three-year Academy program, graduates participated in 18 three-hour classes and must successfully complete additional independent study outside of the classroom. “Erin has demonstrated a commitment to professional development within the chamber of commerce industry,” according to Jake Mangas, president & CEO of the Redding Chamber of Commerce. “The goal to improve our ability to better serve our business community and drive positive change in the greater Redding area and Shasta County.”
W.A.C.E is an association of chamber of commerce executives and staff professionals designed to promote and enhance professional development. With over 800 members from twenty-one Western states and Canada, W.A.C.E. is the largest state or regional association of chamber of commerce executives in the United States.
