Bakersfield Californian: Vote NO on Proposition 32

oppose fb 300x180 1The Bakersfield Californian has announced its opposition to Proposition 32, a November ballot measure that proposes to raise California’s minimum wage to $18 an hour.  The California Chamber of Commerce is also opposed to Proposition 32.

In the editorial, the newspaper pointed out that the minimum wage proposal comes in the wake of a “mind-boggling array of local and industry-specific minimum wage increases” throughout the state, with nearly 40 California cities having local minimum wages higher than the state’s.

In addition, the Legislative Analyst’s Office estimates the measure would increase costs for many businesses, and even some labor advocates have questioned the present piecemeal approach to raising the minimum wage rate.
