A Word From Erin While Jake Is Away

Hello there! Since Jake is currently out of town, I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself to those who may not know me. My name is Erin Hull and I am the Director of Marketing and Membership here at the Chamber. I have been a part of the team since June of 2018. Marketing and membership is a big job at this organization and we look forward to adding to our team soon! (You heard it here, first! *wink)

Man stands on cliff and looks out over open oceanI would like to give you a few quick Chamber updates today, but first, I want to take a moment to speak from the heart. Disclaimer: The opinions expressed here are not reflective of those of Jake Mangas, or anyone on his Board of Directors. *insert humor*

Leadership is hard. Leadership in unprecedented times of crisis and turmoil is even harder. Leaders are not perfect. The very best thing that leaders can do is do, is what they feel is right with honesty, sincerity, integrity, and courage. From my perspective working for this organization, every leader that I have seen and worked with, has what is best for our community at heart. It’s important for us to remember that, and give our leaders a break.

We may be living in the most divided time in our lifetimes and I have to admit that I am burdened by it. There are strong opinions on every side of every issue. I believe that within every perspective and opinion, lies some truth and some flaw. None of us have it all figured out. Let’s believe the best about one another. Posture ourselves to listen and learn. Check our motives. Don’t assume we know someone else’s motives. Soften our hearts.

I love this city and will continue working hard to make it better, while showing respect and kindness to each of it’s residents even if we don’t agree. I hope you’ll join me.
