I am not a contractor and I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I have new found respect for the construction project managers among us who make juggling many capital projects at once look like playing with legos.
It is our pleasure to present “Umbrella Alley” to the citizens and guests in our community. Thanks to our umbrella allies, there are now 150 umbrellas suspended in the air along a 100-foot span on Market Street between Placer and Yuba. I walked under the umbrellas this morning and could stop smiling thinking about all the organizations that helped to make this Redding City Identity Project idea come to fruition. Urban designer, Emily Applekamp, presented a beautiful rendering of what the project could look like and I think we have come close to carrying out that vision.
There are a few finishing touches still yet to come, but we encourage you to go check it out and grab a cold drink or lunch to-go while you are at it – our local restaurants need our support to continue.
